A Little Bit About Me

I am an artist and an activist, with a slight tendency toward rabble-rousing, but ultimately, I seek to find the points of connection in life.  I am particularly interested in studying the intersection of the Arts, Theology and Healing, as well as the ways in which our personal quest for wholeness and healing can contribute to the re-membering of the world. Embodiment, sustainable living, eco-feminism, Jungian archetypes, mysticism and all kinds of poetry are just a few of the things that whet my considerable appetite for new information and reflection. I am committed to the dynamic and life-changing potential of Unitarian Universalism, and feel truly blessed to be able to serve our faith in a professional capacity.  I currently serve as Chaplain Resident at York Hospital in York, PA.

I grew up in Wisconsin and Maryland, and have lived many different places since then.  I am a graduate of Oberlin College and Andover Newton Theological School, and was co-ordained by First Parish Church, Unitarian Universalist, in Northborough, MA and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax. My trusty dog, Maia (who is now quite practiced at gracing the minister's office with her presence) and I currently reside in York, PA.

My current support system consists of a number of close friends, with whom I am in contact regularly.  Some of those friends are colleagues in ministry, and some I have known for many years.  I remain close to my family, who are supportive of my call.  My MFC study group, three friends from Andover Newton, continues to be an invaluable collegial support, as do my fellow chaplain residents.  I am also close to my family of origin, and proudly took on the role of "doting Auntie" when my sister recently had a daughter.

Visual art is an essential part of my creative life.  Painting and multi-media assemblage are my primary art forms, but I also consider building altars and creating worship services and rites of passage to be art forms.  I am a Reiki Master, and my personal Reiki practice is an essential part of my ongoing spiritual development.  I find great comfort and renewal in nature, especially the ocean and hiking in the woods.  I recently got a bicycle, and I also enjoy knitting, which is a great way for me to relax and still my mind.

Overall, I am a creative and sociable person who is committed to making a positive ripple in the world.  In my personal life, I strive always to make choices which are grounded in my spiritual values.
